Your COVID-19 Ambassadors are working hard to find the most up to date information about rainbow tick certified health services and vaccination providers.
To find LGBTIQA+ friendly clinics, you can view a list of services on the Victorian Pride Centre website, as well as a list of doctors.
Our current recommended vaccination hubs include CoHealth, Star Health and IPC Health.
The three vaccinations in circulation are Spikevax (Moderna), Comirnaty (Pfizer) and Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca). These vaccines train your immune system to recognise and clear out the virus, before it makes you seriously ill. Your body’s immune system builds this protection over time. You are fully protected 7 to 14 days after your second dose.
Remember, the vaccine doesn’t make you immune from catching COVID, it does massively reduce the risk of you catching COVID or passing it on to someone else. Not everyone can be vaccinated, but these people can still be protected if they live in and amongst others who are vaccinated. It’s up to the rest of us step up and get a #FabJab. Free and safe vaccines are available for everyone aged 5 years and over. Some people, like those who are pregnant or health care workers, can access reserved Pfizer appointments right away. Some people with a history of blood clots or with some other medical conditions should seek medical advice before being vaccinated.
The three vaccines are available for different age groups are Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
To help encourage people from LGBTIQA+ communities to get the vax, and help reduce one of the barriers or challenges that may cause vaccine hesitancy in these communities, we’re providing some resources for those providing vaccinations. There is a fact sheet, a template letter for patients to complete and a video for GPs, pharmacists, and people working at vax sites. It’s to help them better understand how to treat LGBTIQ+ clients respectfully, and we can work together on this during the vaccination roll-out. Please feel free to share with your medical support people.
